A lot of car maintenance doesn’t need to be done until a specific amount of mileage is put on your car, but there are a handful of things you can do every other time you fill up your car with gas to keep your vehicle looking great and performing in peak condition.

1. Clean your Windshield:

While waiting on your car to fill, one of the big things you can do is clean your windshield with the local sponge and squeegee. 2. Check Tire Pressure:

Tire pressure changes with the temperature, so it’s essential to stay on top of how much air your tires should have. If you don’t know the correct psi for your tires, it is listed on the side of each tire. If you need more or less air, you can handle this at most gas stations. 

3. Check Oil Level:

Oil is one of the key ingredients to making your car run smoothly. Checking your car’s oil level is super easy. All you need is a clean paper towel, adequate light, and about three minutes. You should save this job for last because you need to wait about five minutes after turning the engine off for the oil to drain back into the pan.  

Yearly Car Maintenance

All cars need to have maintenance done every set amount of miles. This is for more of the bigger things such as oil change, air filter change, and tire rotations. Some of these things can be a DIY project if you have the proper equipment.

1. Change Oil every 5,000 miles:

This is one of the most important things to keep your car running smoothly. This might not be an option if you live in a dorm or apartment, so your local garage can always get the job done.  

2. Change Air Filter every 12,000 miles: 

This task can very easily be done yourself, saving you a lot of money. Regularly changing your car’s air filter will increase fuel efficiency, prolong your engine’s life, and reduce emissions.

3. Rotate Tires every 5,000 to 10,000 miles:

Each tire runs differently, which causes them to wear down at different rates. Regularly rotating your tires equalizes their natural wear patterns, ensuring a smoother and safer ride. It also extends the life of your tires, which will save you money on costly replacements.

How Does Windshield Repair Work?

If your car experiences windshield damage like chips, cracks, or even breaks you will want to work with an experienced windshield repair company, like Kryger Glass. So let’s say you have called us about a chip in your windshield and set an appointment. Our technician meets you, and once they determine the damage is fixable, they’ll get to work.

• The technician uses cleaning pads to gently remove any small bits of glass from the damaged area.
• With a special injector tool, they’ll center over the damage to create a seal over the area of missing glass.
• They then fill the injector with high-quality resin and carefully push the resin into the chip or crack. This resin is what reinstates the integrity of your windshield. They must get this part right.
• Once the resin has had time to sit, they remove the injector. Now it’s time to fill in the missing glass to give it a smooth finish.
• The technician uses a filler to cover the chip and let it sit until it’s dried, then scrape off the extra.

And they’re done! The whole process takes less than an hour, and after it’s done, your windshield is back in business. It’s important to note that repairing a crack or chip does not mean the blemish can’t be seen. The job is intended to keep your windshield functioning, not make the damage disappear entirely.
